- Highlights of the 76th CGC Year: Our delightful Summer Garden Party at Kitty’s home; Our beautiful Directory; Our September meeting with members presenting their crafts; Our successful Plant Sale affiliated with the Cole Library Book Sale; The interesting and varied Speakers who gave us lots to think about; the trip to Barona where despite the cold, we had a wonderful trip, a great meal and no pressure to join their Casino; A lovely Installation by Jane McKee who is the newly installed Director for Palomar District as well as the opportunity to see Natalie’s wonderful paintings and hear her poetry; The Garden Tour: great variety, different views as well as very different gardens. Many thanks to all involved: Anne, Barbara D, Cindy, Barbara M, Jan, Kitty, and Wendy…
- We became involved in the Petal for Patriots program and had two successful trips in November and December. Other District Clubs go the other months.
- The Discovery Group had a great year. Using the info gained at the October meeting, we added another ingredient to our organic fertilizer made at Sue’s home; Our trip to Cuyamaca College and its special program, which I think everyone should see; and other different trips…Thanks to Helena who has already planned for 09-10.
- We have joined the AHLF as a "Community Member" and Mary Hassing has taken over as Liaison. Rather than a monthly visit, Mary will call on us as needed for special events to weed, deadhead and then brown bag lunch at the site.
- With the help of Maxine Levine, Jeanette and Bruce Sweringen, we have established a proper relationship with the federal gov’t, specifically the IRS, so that we can truly say we are an organization that is tax deductible. This involved amendments to the Bylaws, which the Membership needs to vote on in September. I’ll send them as an attachment so you can read them before the meeting.
- Membership Changes: We acquired some new and excited Members. Have cell phone #s posted esp. on trip days…suggestions to include birthdays and name of spouses. Sadly Olivia and Bob have not renewed,
- We have changed our Meeting Place to the Meeting Room at Dove Library.
- Changes in Palomar District: only 3 meetings….to sell stuff on October 26, 2009 at the Windmill, Halloween Table Décor (no more than $5) and Hat Contest. Lunch, Program and Celebratory Cake…should be a fun meeting; next meeting will be after Jan Winter Board Meeting, and the last in June. So get planting and crafting for that meeting as well as the Cole Library Book Sale on October 3, 2009.
- CGCInc Winter Board Meeting at the Dana in Mission Bay. Our District is the Host from 1/8-10. They will need our help; many more details to follow.
