Mo Price, Australian Plants: Mo Price became interested in Australian plants shortly after
becoming a docent at San Diego Botanic Garden in 2001. She was awestruck by some
of the beautiful and unusual plants from Australia and soon discovered that
most Australian plants are evergreen, looking nice year-round, even when they
are not blooming. She started visiting local nurseries on a weekly basis,
hoping a new species would be waiting for her when she arrived. She currently
has over 100 Australian natives in her garden. In May 2009 she spent a week
with Jo O’Connell, the foremost expert in Australian natives, at Jo’s nursery
in Ventura County. This was a fantastic learning
experience which dramatically enhanced Mo’s knowledge of Australian plants. Mo
will talk about growing requirements of some beautiful Australian plants that
would be a welcome addition to your garden.

While they’re offering their "better" used books, we’ll be selling plants and garden related items outside in the patio outside the Community Room. The purpose is to meet the public, spread the word on "water wise" gardens and benefit the horticulture scholarship.

friends and potential members by exposing them to a variety of landscape
designs, irrigation systems and specific plants they can incorporate in their
own gardens. Maps with directions will be given to drivers. A carpool meeting place will be announced and
a no-host lunch will follow at a local restaurant. Proceeds from this event go towards our horticulture scholarship, which the club annually presents to a student at Mira Costa College.
