Mo Price, Australian Plants:  Mo Price became interested in Australian plants shortly after becoming a docent at San Diego Botanic Garden in 2001. She was awestruck by some of the beautiful and unusual plants from Australia and soon discovered that most Australian plants are evergreen, looking nice year-round, even when they are not blooming. She started visiting local nurseries on a weekly basis, hoping a new species would be waiting for her when she arrived. She currently has over 100 Australian natives in her garden. In May 2009 she spent a week with Jo O’Connell, the foremost expert in Australian natives, at Jo’s nursery in Ventura County. This was a fantastic learning experience which dramatically enhanced Mo’s knowledge of Australian plants. Mo will talk about growing requirements of some beautiful Australian plants that would be a welcome addition to your garden.

David Root, Floral Design Presentation:  David Root will be entertaining and amazing us with his floral design presentation.  He is a professional floral designer with over 18 years experience.  His work has won numerous awards and been featured in many publications, including Flowers and San Diego Home and Garden.  As a lecturer and instructor, he has worked with FTD, Teleflora, San Diego Museum of Art and many SoCal garden clubs as well as being featured on many local TV stations.  This is a 90-minute community event that will be held in the Dove Library auditorium at 1:00 p.m.  Our meeting room will be set up for socializing and refreshments before and after the presentation.  Arrive early to get a good seat.

December is time for our annual Holiday Party. Bring a potluck dish with serving utensil, canned goods to donate to the needy, and a wrapped gift that will be auctioned off. This auction is one of the most fun and lucrative events of the year…you never know what you’re going to get! Cash or checks accepted. Proceeds support our Club and the various recipients of our donations.

Dos Gringos Tour:  We will be hosted to a tour of the state-of-the-art headquarters of Dos Gringos.  We will also be treated to a bouquet design presentation.
During the two-week period prior to 2010 Mother's Day, Dos Gringos shipped over 900,000 bouquets. That's a lot of Sunflowers!  Dos Gringos also generously donates all of the flowers delivered by the San Diego and North County Petals for Patriots program.  If the weather is nice we can bring a brown bag and stop by Leo Carillo Ranch Historic Park for a picnic lunch.

February 4     12:30 p.m.
